We Shall Continue with Style

We either go through the motions, tread water and survive, or we shall continue with style. My name is Austin Andrew and I started We Shall Continue with Style, after losing my sister, Paige, to suicide. After choosing to end her life in 2019, I had a hard time finding joy in what I loved doing. I have always been an adventurer and a wanderer, letting that part of myself get away from me was heartbreaking. Going from living, to struggling daily with grief was something I was not prepared for. I decided that I can carry that grief and continue to seek out joy in life. No longer am I going to just survive! I started We Shall Continue with Style to connect with myself and others living after loss. I have started to speak more openly about my mental health, grief and trauma, and I want to support others struggling in the same way. Through We Shall Continue With Style I will share my journey with grief and find my way to start living again.

  In May of 2022 I will officially be older than Paige. It has taken lots of time to find the joy in continuing life and not solely associating Paige’s death with loss and pain. I have started changing my relationship with grief and accepting that it is part of my life moving forward. One of the first steps, for me, getting back to living life is rekindling my love for adventure. My way of continuing with style is that I will be bike packing from California to Ushuaia, Argentina. I have dreamed of this and cannot think of a better way to reawaken my love for adventure than to set out on this expedition. My hope is to connect with people along the way, hear their stories about living after loss and sharing my own journey as well.  This is how I will continue mine and my sister’s story by getting after life. Through this experience, I want to support others in their journey with grief. I will be raising funds for my trip, as well as increasing outreach for those who are struggling with grief. Our goal at WSCWS is to be there for those who are dealing with traumatic loss. Donating to WSCWS helps support people who are grieving or struggling with mental health. We are planning to support others through recreational therapy, guided adventures and sponsoring those who are finding ways to continue with style.
